Inside Oliver Valves
By redefining our valve solutions for maximum efficiency in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries, we hold a global reputation of providing reliability under pressure. Established over 40 years ago, Oliver Valves has grown to expand our companies and has shown annual growth worldwide. At the forefront of engineering excellence, we push the boundaries of innovation across everything we do. We are offering both apprenticeships and graduate programmes for those looking to enter the industry and varied work experience opportunities.
We aim to deliver a comprehensive overview of the industry to equip young people with the opportunity to explore the different departments that make up a business. We can give you the freedom to choose your career path and offer help, support, training and guidance along the way. Today, some of our employees have been with us for over 30 years and have benefited from excellent career development. We do give back to our employees in a wide range of ways.
Career Development
The Oliver family of companies strongly believes in a ‘promote from within philosophy’ and as such we embrace a variety of training and development opportunities for our team.
We recognise the need to continually up-skill and grow the capability of our workforce and it is an ongoing strategic directive to invest in the ongoing development of our team. An organisation’s brand worth is decided not only by the quality of their wares but also by the quality and knowledge base of their employees. Employees at Oliver are able to broaden their skill set with qualifications such as Apprenticeships, Coaching and Further Education. This approach is all about recognising the skills that people have and developing talent to support us in the future.
People who have been doing their job for years can still learn from NVQs and apprenticeships. One of the benefits is that they learn to communicate what they are doing to their colleagues and it is this positive communication that makes people feel more engaged in their work.
It is important that it is recognised, across the company, that anybody, in any job, could achieve a qualification. It isn’t an elitist system and it isn’t based on academic ability. We recruit based on attitude and then train for skill.
If you feel that you have the appetite and the potential, then forward your CV and a covering letter to graduates@valves.co.uk.
Apprenticeships
The Oliver Family of Companies welcomes enquiries from those making their first steps in the engineering industry. If you possess excellent communication and numeracy skills, we want to hear from you; our apprentices are afforded industry-leading training, both on the shop floor and in the classroom. If you have the mechanical aptitude to join Oliver Valves frontline of solution providers, then email apprenticeships@valves.co.uk. Please provide an opening statement or covering letter with your e-mail, and include an up-to-date copy of your CV.
Ongoing Support and Training For Apprentices include training at Oliver Valves and it does not stop once you have achieved a certificate or qualification. Our HR department is dedicated to releasing talent through the development of our staff. We can identify latent ability and talent through regular appraisals, thereby allowing us to match your potential to further training, such as modern apprenticeships, adult apprenticeships, NVQs, or in-house training.
